I just got this thing started again and it did the strange idle issue again so I decided to take a short video of it.
Compression is good
Fuel is good
Spark will jump 1/2" nicely
Just changed primer bulb (wouldn't start with the old one)
Cleaned out jets on carbs (two cylinders (2&4) have different size jets - not sure yet if that's normal ???)
Plugs in it are from previous owner and appear to be hotter ones, they are NGKR BZ7HS10
Update with More info:
Previous owner had this out a couple of times where it ran fine for awhile and then lost power / ran real rough after it warmed up. He had to use the kicker to get in and just didn't trust it anymore even after having carbs rebuilt, new VRO, fuel lines and plugs. Never did figure out the problem.
Yesterday I cleaned the motor good and saw some grease type stuff on the top of the power head..not sure if it's grease or possibly a leaking stator since I have never seen one. It doesn't come off like regular grease though. I have read that stators going out could cause symptoms like this but that is too expensive to buy as a "might be" remedy / fix.
I appreciate any help on this, I don't know if I should call this a misfire or what? and If I should even run it long enough to test coils, carbs etc.
