Hi ,this motor is fairly new to me, but at low speeds sounds a little "tickety".Is this normal?sounds good at high speed though,no real performance issues other than idle maybe could be a bit higher.stalls occasionally when i accelerate out of neutral. Thanks, I like to hear from people that have the same motor.

I would recommend that you do a compression test.

Without hearing the "tickety" noise it is very difficult to tell.
Any chance of a link to a video of it with audio ???
Make it so much easier for all to offer any assistance.

You could have a crankcase leak, either on the intake side or the compression side. May be leaking vacuum or compression into the atmosphere and why it won't idle. Check the gel seal where the crankcase halves meet, the bypass covers and check the head gaskets-any of which can leak. A compression test is a good idea.

could be spark jump from wire to block, run it in the dark, watch for a arch from wire, plug to the block.

I have to admit that I opened this thread, just to find out what a "tickety" sound is. That said, TD's thought is about as close to anything that I would call "tickety." as any. When high tension leads (spark plug wires) short to ground, that's pretty much the sound they make .... "tick, tick, tick." You would not hear this at higher rpms, just because of engine noise. You might, however, sense some roughness in the engine.

I also agree with his suggestion to look at the leads, while running the motor in the dark. When doing so, watch the area around the rubbet plug boots, as well s the rest of the wires. Sometimes, you will get what are refered to as "carbon deposits" on the ceramic portion of the plugs. In light, they look like black dust. They have been known to provide a pathway for shorting from under the boots, to the powerhead.

Idle is too low, tolerances will gang and you can hear it clicking.
