Should I Be Ticked Off?

Brought my boat in to the shop and was told it could take up to 2weeks before they could get to it. I said OK because they are the closest to me and have always been treated exceptionally well by the counter person when I've needed parts. <br />Well today it's been 2 weeks, 2 days 12 hours and 4 minutes since I left her there. Yeah i got the fishing fever bad! I have driven by on my way home everyday since then to see if my boat has moved. Last night I drive by and my boat has moved from the line to the front of the garage. Hooray! Tonight I drive by and it's still there, but the engine cowling is off, the carbs are off and it's left out in the open! Weather is rain everyday for the last week. The boat has been left out in the sun and rain for 2 weeks now. I know my little boat is not a nice new 20 footer and all, but it's all I got! It gets me where I want to go and back. Is this typical just typical? Am I just being anal?<br />

Well, I think I'd be irritated if my motor was left uncovered and opened up in the rain. I'm not too far away down I-10, so I know the kind of frog-strangling rains we've been getting lately. Much less the long wait. I'm sure they're busy at this time of the year, but a telephone call explaining the delay would go a long way towards making you a future customer. A polite talk with the owner of the shop explaining how they're not meeting your expectations may be in order. It may not actually get you anywhere, but you might feel better to get if off your chest.

If you left your boat uncoverd, on their lot, knowing it would see the sun, moon, cloulds and yes, rain, your fault, don't complain!! You should of install'd your boat cover! If they left the engine hood off, knowing good and well that it would rain (and it did), say something to the service manager!! Shame on them!!

It's called poor service...incompetent mechanics, poor supervision, and pathetic management. I can't imagine my outboards left open in the elements with the carbs off.

Two weeks wait right after the fourth of July is not bad at all as this is the busiest time of the year. But, leaving your motor exposed as they have done is inexcusable! I would be chewing some a$$, but wait until the work is finished, or you may be waiting another two weeks.

I would have went up and covered my motor you wait till they are done and the damage could be done already. The last thing you want is to let them destroy your stuff and then say well i saw you do this so you need to fix it. I would rather say "I see someone forgot to cover my stuff please be more careful." If they get pissy take your boat elsewhere

Well, I'm glad to see i wasn't just being anal. Formula, I would have covered it, but they have guard dogs that got really pissy while I got pictures of my boat with the cowling off and the throats of all 3 cylinders wide open.<br />Drove by again on my way home tonight and it was still there, but the cowling was on it. Still, no phone call. I'll just go up there Saturday morning and see what's up.
