Chrysler's have been out of production for a number of years. Many have an experience of more fixing than boating with them and spares can be hard to find. Mechanics most often don't like them as they tend to take much time (=$$).

They did perform average in their time but as most a 84'er does not stand up to competition from more modern designs. And it will be a 'friend for life' as nobody would want to buy it later on, should you decide to trade.

I'd suggest you look for a bargain on a major brand, still in production and with a service point not too far away from you.

A search on this forum will show plenty of info on Chryslers - 200 hits alone in the Outboards forum.

Hey Larry

Nice example of how you can sometimes have problems at the most unexpected times. I mean, fitting a ring shouldn't be a problem - especially not to pro's.

This is just one of many small issues that points out why I suggest a major brand to Tim. Folks who are not D-Y-I's can end up paying zillions to marine mechanics who have to charge every hour spend - no matter the thing is worth it or not.
