Hey all
so I have a shot at buying a really nice condition 16 ft grumman center console with a really nice shape 80 hp mariner on it....the boat was used last about 3 years ago, the owner passed away and now his son is selling it....he knows nothing abouy it but the family wants it gone...he was asking 1600 but he said make him an offer....not knowing any history of the boat I presented a $1000 offer, he discussed with family and wrote back they would accept my offer...I own a 18 ft fisher alluminum cc already so I know boats but I am not sure about grummans or mariners...I would be taking a chance on the motor not knowing if it was properly put to bed, but I think the boat motor and trailer for this price is a no brainer...if nothing more than a quick flip with high profit...anyone have any input....

Every Grumman boat I have seen was of fine quality.

Mariner motor should be as good as any, of the same vintage.

Can't imagine you getting hurt on that for only a grand.

80 HP should move it quite nicely, too!

Mariner is a Mercury in grey paint - good as it gets!

I see no issues here. Aluminum boats are everlasting in most cases and the Mariner is a Merc in grey clothing. If the trailer is decent then you've got a great package for $1,000 for sure. Even if it needs an interior gut job and rebuild you've got room to put a little into it. While you didn't list years of the items that boat will work on most any freshwater body and some salt. I see a $2,500 tag with a quick turn.
