I Was Driving Down A Well Travel Road Yesterday ( Or The Day Before ) , For Some Reason I Looked Off To My Right . There Sat This Old Boat With A For Sale Sign On It , Cute Little Thing. "" I've Got To Check It Out. Well How Does A 1968 Glastron 14' With A 35 H.p. Chrysler Sound. Not The Best Shape But Seems Solid. The Trailer Has Flat Tires ( Which Are Dry Rotted ) And The Owner Said That The Tires Are No Longer Available And The Axle Needs To Be Changed( $200.00 ) I Currently Have My Tire Guy Looking Into This. The Owner Said He Had It Winterized 2 Years Ago And It Has Been Sitting There ( For Sale ). ( I Never Noticed It Before ). Anyway He Would Like To Get $1200.00. He Said It "" Purred Like A Kitten"" The Last Time He Ran Her. My Questions Are 1) Is , Or Was Glastron A Good Product Back In This Year And Are There Anything In Particular I Should Look For Before Buying This Boat 2) What Should I Look For Regarding This Chrysler 35 H.p. Outboard Engine. And 3) Parts , Parts , Parts, Are They Available. Looking Forward To Viewing Your Responses. Thanks A Million

I'd pull the engine cover and look at the wiring for corrosion. Then I'd pull the roap on the engine to see how it turns over. I would want to see engine run before I bought it. The trailer tires should be no problem just put on a slightly different size. I would walk around on the deck to feel for soft spots and check the transom for rot. This is where I'd start anyway.

$300 max. People usually pay you to take boats like that off their property.

I you want to know about parts look here at iboats for Chrysler parts, then look in the Evinrude Johnson section.
Chrysler/Force has a shakey reputation.Probably at least partly deserved.
Regardless of the facts The Chrysler Force motors have a poor resale value.

A good looking good running Chrysler 35 on e bay will fetch between 150 and 250 maybe a little more--they seem to be buy-crazy on e bay.Chrysler 35 was dirt simple and they made a lot of them for a lot of years--no changes, all parts interchangeable. Parts are still available but sometimes you need to look a little. You can't just go down to the corner marina--you need to do a little work.

I LOVE older Glastrons! I have 3. They just had a classy look about them--even the small ones. They were fast hulls but this speed came with a price. They were fast because they were light--bottom was ok, but they were thin topsides. Also, they tend to rot out the floors. Chances are that little boat has a punky floor in it. Transoms tend to bend out with age just from the weight of the engine and crack the splash well. Look for this specific kind of damage. Not too difficult to repair though.

So: If you REALLY LIKE IT, 500 for the package.--No more: 1200 is crazy unless it was totally restored and showroom perfect. Then join the Chrysler Crew.

Well if he stops talking at 900 then you should start walking.

Go on e-bay , I just watched a 18 foot boat, 125 hp motor and trailer go for 850.00 Running and it looked real good. I would have bid on it but didnt get back in ,in time .

I got a 14 ft with a 70hp with trailer for 511.00, towed it home 500 miles with no problems , the motor has 120 on all three . Runs great.

Sold the boat the next day for 400.00 , 3 days later sold the LU for 300.00 All I wanted was the 70 hp rude, putting a jet pump on the motor.

The man will find out he dosen't have gold there but lead insted.
