Certainly an antique. You many get a better opinion posting this in the Evinrude Outboard forum.

I have seen motors of similar age go from $150-300 on Craigslist when they are fixed up with a new paint job. Of course I think the coolest part is the evinrude motor stand. I would pay $50-100 for that alone. My friend actually bought a 3.5 hp from the 40s for $125.

He's asking $125 for this one. I did a little ebay checking and I'm a little surprised they don't seem to go for a bit more. I found a couple in the 300-500 range.

I think they are alot like fishing equipment, some people think because it is old you can slap a huge price tag on it, but unless you find that special one that they only made a few of or have a true collector buying not much of a market. Of course, i agree with you they are awesome to have propped up (no pun intended) around the house. If you have the money I would say jump on it and try to get that original evinrude stand because i believe that is more rare than the motor.

I have a 1 1/2 hp Evinrude from the 1930's. My grandfather used to make plywood flat bottom jon boats in the 1940's, and he used the motor on them. It helps to have a "classic" style of old boat to put'em on.
