should I change the lower end fluid?

[simple]

The last time my lower end fluid got changed was May of 2005. I only used the boat 3 times between May and August of 05. I should have changed it in the fall of 05, but I didn't. Should I change it again now, or could I wait until fall of 06 since the boat didn't get used all that much last year?

I couldn't imagine any reason not to change it. It's not difficult, it's not expensive. If you had any water intrusion at all or condensation, there will be water in there.

Being from Wisconsin, unless the boat is stored in a heated garage or building I would recomend changing or at least draining the upper and/or lower prior to winter and before the first freeze.

It's Not a Question of whether the Oil is Worn Out, or Gone Bad........<br /><br />As stated above,..... It's about LOOKING for Contamination.......... It is best by far to ALWAYS change it in the fall as part of winterizing.

I think you should change the oil and check for contamination at the same time.... Don't forget to replace the seals on the screws...
