I am considering going to look at and buy this pontoon. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to fix this leak. the owner says it takes on about a gallon of water every 2-3 hours on the water. Is this worth buying for a good deal or should I stay away. The ad is linked below

I would not think it is a good deal. I bought a 20' JC pontoon 1996 with a 40 hp Johnson for $5,500. This pontoon was in excelent condition, actually like brand new.

The one you are looking at don't even have any furniture, that could cost over 2 g, and with that small of engine you might as well paddle.

That toon is dented pretty bad, I don't think it could be repaired. I would suggest to keep on looking.

If I was in your shoes walk quickly and fast away from that deal. He would be lucky if he did sale it. He will probably have to give it away and that might be hard to do. Let us know what you did find. Bob

16' Is pretty small, and with small diameter pontoons it won't have a lot of capacity. $1500 would be a fair price without the dent and leak. I've got a 20' for sale of similiar vintage for not much more than that.

The short answer, NO.

I work for a pontoon company and am the repair guy and that is way past repair and I have replaced one nose cone and will never do it again, it is just to much work.

Add to that the company that built that boat is more than likely out of buisness for years and you either live with it or walk away.

If it doesn't leak it is just cosmetic and I'm sure if it did leak you could make it stop and just have a dented tube but as far as repair, no way.

Probably had it parked on a trailer and hit it with something else.

Run away as fast as you can! There are plenty of pontoons out there, just keep looking that is part of the fun. Just like an adventure!

RUN-RUN-RUN that is one of the worst boats you will find-it is basically worthless. I buy and sell a lot of pontoon boats around that price range so I know. I have sold three boats from that builder for people to put on their ponds and that is about the only thing they are good for. I just delivered one yesterday that a guy will use to get his four wheeler across the creek.
