Should I even bother

Still can't identify my problem with overly hot water and low psi coming out the water tube (1985 mrec. 2Cy 25 hp). Replaced entire water pump (except alluminum housing), removed powerhead cover - no blockage, sprayed water through water tube, removed water intake screen. Thought I'd remove the exhaust cover and check, but is this a possible area for a blockage? I don't feel like ordering a new gasket once I take it off, but if its a common place for a blockage, I will.

Also, should water be spitting out of the exhaust jets (using rabbit ears) or just exhaust?

You may have a bad thermostat or a obstrution under the exhaust cover

Engine has no thermostat. So I guess I'll remove the exhaust plate.

I read on another posting that the water tube seals in the L/U could cause this. Might be worth a check. Good luck!

Are you refering to a seal at the base of the copper water tube?
