3/4 ton will do the trick.I'm thinking a truck with a plow. We have received about 70 in. of snow this yr., and i have two bad knees. I have been snowblowing a 14 car parking lot for the last four yr. it getting harder and harder lately.
Decent 1/2 ton is the word I think of.Don't know, Spinner ... our half ton is 20 years old, has about 150K on her, and been used almost exclusively for towing, hauling, or plowing. The cross members are starting to rust out, but the rest of her is in decent shape for a beater truck.
Is a 3/4 ton better? YES! But a decent heavy half will get the job done! For may years!
(oh, and it is an under-powered V-6! Wish it had a V-8 in her, but ... you do the best with what you got!)
It pleases me to be able to adjust the heat when I am plowing.
