I am working on a Wellcraft Step V20. The Floor has the diamond shaped non skid. I want to repaint with the "sand like additive" Will this paint cover the diamond non skid? Will it fill it in? Do I have to start with a smooth service for paint? Should I use a filler first? It is very difficult to sand.
Thank you

I would use a wire brush to scuff the nonskid.Try to find a softer one than one that will not scratch it badly. You may be able to find a scrub brush firm enough to do the job.Dont try to sand it smooth. You will have to take of too much and you will "unseal" the fiberglass floor. There are many different grades of nonslip additives you can add to the paint.Prep it right and clean up all the dust and sand and scuff residue and the paint will stick. And of course, use the right paint.Charlie

Naw,..... Just Scuff it up a Bunch,+ Slap the Paint to it......

Like Charlie says, If you sand it "Smooth",.... You'll be Through the gelcoat,+ into the glass is self..........

Thanks guys. Charlie you said "the right paint". That stuff is expensive. I'm not looking to show the boat, I came across "Hawthorne Marine topside paint" It is $27.00 a gallon on He also has primer for the same price. Ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4539772150
Have you heard of this? Should I stay away and lay out the cash? Mark
