Me again with another question about my '58 Johnson 18.
Continuing disassembly prior to repainting, I've separated the powerhead and exhaust housing from the transom clamp and hinge (not sure if that's the correct name for it, the big "hinge" on which the motor swings from side to side?).
Anyway, at the bottom end of the "hinge" there is a bit of play, more than seems right. At the top there is a plastic (?) bush inside the tube, at the bottom there is none, just metal to metal, and a slot or groove which looks like it might lock a bush in place to stop it turning?
So should there be a bush here, and if so is it plastic or metal?
My manual doesn't cover this aspect of disassembly, there isn't even an exploded view to give me a clue, is there such a drawing anywhere or does anyone have one they could scan?
