I will admit I am the opposite, when something breaks on my boat I replace with new from he factory but I do admire your creativeness.

I have made a few replacement skegs for I/O and outboards over the years using stainless steel and bending it to shape. Works great.

I do like your shift lever - that's a new one. ;)

And yes MANY have built motor stands and I have seen an assortment of fuel tanks. Old lawn mower tanks are small and useful too.

Long before phones and cameras went boating the steering broke on the 14 foot boat three of us were water skiing out of. Teenagers left to our own on a lake in Texas in august. We screwed a piece of 2x4 into the 50Hp outboard engine cover one person worked the throttle up front one person steered with the piece of wood from the back seat and the third guy water skied. No pictures but I can tell you there was no part of this wont work ever considered in our southern red neck engineering.

You lucky rascal. Back when I was that age it was 18 and 25 HP engines and glad to get them. We skied in Taylor Lake, adjacent to Clear Lake, NASA-Houston today which was coastal marsh. Had about 2' of water at low tide and 2' of mud. Never wore a life jacket because if you fell you just fell into a mud bog and stood up knee deep. I spent the whole first summer trying to learn how to get up and stay up on tandems.......lot of it had to do with the wimpy power available I'm sure and the shallow water. We did have a lot of fun.

Oh man I need to find the pic I took last year of a guys car. He actually took the back seat out, put a sheet of plywood in it and cut out a piece to mount his,,,,,ready?????? Window air conditioner in it. I know a guy that took a pic too so I'll ask him to send it to me. I have seen a lot in my life but nothing more red neck than that, never.

Where in heck did you find a 2x4 in the middle of a lake? The best part is it didn't stop you yungins from skiing.

I really like you redneck set ups. I once replaced the ball on my 3 series BMW with the head of a nice old persimmon 5 wood and a 7 iron for the column shifter on my old beater GMC pick up.
