I was Googling boat hoist and came across this: Coin operated, DIY, boat hoist

In today's "sue your butt until your broke" society, I absolutely cannot believe this is truly possible. In flippin' California?

3 tokens at $1.50 a piece. Wow. Cheap and stupid all at the same time. I wonder how they make $$$ especially since they need a cleanup crew to pick up the pieces from unexperienced operators.

Well

I own a sailboat that has the lift ring built into the keel So you cant really pick it up wrong and there are many many other sailboats built for this

And there is one at most every sailing club launching and hauling dozens of boats a day

it will make boat launch follys look like a mensa convention.

When we use to trailer to a bigger J24 race we would launch and step the masts on 50 boats in 3 to 4 hours as most places have a TUG to move the trailer under the lift


Now on sunday afternoon when everbody was rushing i have seen some allmost FUBAR but that was from steping a 35' mast buy HAND

A three foot transition from trailer to sea level is often fun to watch, make it twenty feet and I'll bring the popcorn!!!!

We use our reload log pickers to lift out crew boats. Like tommys said the cleats are built into the boat.

clinking the link. swore the fine print said they provide a megaphone and sez to shout "look out below" when lowering.

must read the operating and safety instructions and complete a short instruction brief before they are allowed to operate the hoist
