Sierra Fuel/water separator filter replacement

I need to replace the filter later today - when I bought the new one it has printed on the filter that the line is under pressure. How do i relieve the pressure from the old separator before i unscrew it and dump gallons of fuel into the compartment.

When you unscrew the filter, it will leak a few oz of fuel. Use a rag to catch it. Have a coffee can handy to dump the filter into. A clear container is better since you can then see if there is water in the fuel from the filter.
