Please help if anyone has the wiring schematic to hook up a sierra international 18-5911 marine heavy duty starter. I just bought a brand new starter and still all I get is clicking. I had the starter tested and it is fine. So I think we may not be hooking it up correctly. PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU!!!

You probably have it hooked up correctly. In fact, you may not have needed a new starter at all.

Take all of the battery cables off; scrub both ends shiny and reconnect. Take extra care with the battery ground cable where it is bolted to the engine block. The copper-to-tin-to-steel-to-alloy connection is a corrosion factory and should be serviced annually.

Tell us what engine you have and we can help you with the wiring if you really need it.

Good luck. :)

Thank you I will try that! It has a 305 in it. My boat is a 1986 Bayliner open bow 22 ft. Thanks again for your help!
