Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket water pump kit made by sierra? If so, any problems with them or they just as reliable as OEM? Motor is a 92 Johnson 200gt. Thanks,
Steve

I've been using the Sierra parts for years and haven't noticed any issues with them...
- Scott

I have.

I find them to be "will fits". For the inexperienced, they can sometimes be confusing.

I use OEM-exclusively. That way, no questions, they (OEM) just work.

It's too big of an investment to leave it to something that is "supposed to" work.

Just my opinion.

Uh oh, I have the Sierra water pump kit and 3 Sierra Carb kits W/Floats sitting on my bench ready to install in my '84 Johnson 70.

Jeff

I've used Sierra Carb kits, gaskets, and impellers and they seem to work just fine. If it's not OMC, it's probably Sierra. I have catelogs from NAPA and CarQuest both carry Sierra and will give you one of their catelogs for free.

I've used their water pumps several times. They seem OK to me...

Should be no problem with them, just a little cheaper.

They had some issues about 2-3 years ago with the hubs spinning out of the impellers. They seem to have a handle on it now. The problem was when the hub let go the water stopped instantly. Usually fried the motor.
