What are the signs of a bad gimbal bearing without lower unit removal?<br />What are the signs of bad u joints without removal?

Without removing the outdrive the signs you will get are the ones you will hear.Then it is waaaay too late.With the drive off you put your fingers on the bearing and see if it moves smoothly.If you are not sure if it is bad and cant get the drive off ,then pump a bunch of grease in it and dont use the rig much until you can check the right way.Charlie

You have several posts going on probably the same thing, noises, overheating, clanking, etc. Bearings and ujoints, gears, all make different noises at different stages of being bad.<br />Since you know nothing about what you are doing, you are going to need a manual.
