Sikaflex over Sikaflex??

Hello everyone. I have a question regarding using new Sikaflex over top of old Sikaflex, can this be done? I want to add a bead of Sikaflex over top of the screw holes holding my transducer wire to my transom just as a extra precautionary measure. The screws appear to be sealed with Sikaflex now (probably 10 years ago by the previous owner) and I want to run a fresh bead of sikaflex (using a fine tipped syringe) over top of the old stuff. Can this be done? Thanks.

I'm not sure what Sikaflex product the previous owner used. Is there a Sikaflex that would work no matter what is on there now?

You can use Sikaflex 291, clean the area you are applying the sealant to with mineral spirits.

We used Sikaflex quite a bit when I was a bus mechanic. Can't remember exactly which one. I do remember this, the cleaner the application area, the better. Cleaning with mineral spirits is a good idea to remove dirt. In most applications, we had to remove all of the old Sikaflex to get a proper bond.
