Silly question but i need to know

Just got my first boat a secondhand small speedboat , with this engine on the back.

I assume its 80hp ?

And a real silly question but i know the cover swings open , but i am blowed if i can see how ? can anyone tell me .

Yes i know i must be thick but like i said never owned one before

Hey on the back of the motor look to see if their is a cover with a knob that turns if so turn and remove and the rest will be self explanitory

It has no knob it just baffles me no knobs or flaps , yet at the far end you can see the join where the thing is meant to swing apart i assume .. Its drove me mad so far ,

Pete - look behind the removable cover plate on the front of the motor - you'll find your cowling clasps there.

I will try that and let you all know . its to dark here at the moment won`t see a thing , so in the morning will check and try that.. thanks

Hey thanks for that i found it , the thing was jammed up with some sort of putty stuff to keep the spring in so obviously thats something else to sort out but at least i can open it now
