Re: Silly Question

Porpoising is when your engine is trying to raise the bow of the boat higher than it can keep it. The result is that the bow bounces up and down, porpoise-like.

It is usually caused by too much trim-out of the engine. The fix is to reduce the angle of trim-out until the boat settles down.

Re: Silly Question

The opposite of porpoisiing is "plowing". This is when the bow of the boat does not ride high enough when on plane. It therefore plows its way through the water almost like it does before it gets on plane rather than skimmiing over or slightly off the surface of the water. That problem results when there is too much weight in the bow of the boat or the engine is trimmed in too far.
