Silly stringer question

I bought a 23' Sea Ray Weekender (88) that had a rotted section of deck right under the helm. I read through these forums and learned what the best materials were and the best way to go about it, and I dug in. (literally) After I got the mush and rot out I was left with a section about 4'long, and from the fuel tank out, right down to the hull. (plus a small portion of the head located just forward) The stringer running alongside the fuel tank (fuel tank centrally located) was completely gone..but just in this section..I got to good wood both fore and aft, and framed it all in (2 levels) glued and screwed.. solid as a rock all the way.

I sit down tonight and start reading some more and realize that maybe I should have tied that section of stringer to the hull. As it stands I did not. I made that section to fit snuggly between the good wood fore and aft and went from there. I left that section just sitting on the hull because it looked like that's how it came from the factory to me. I shook that framework as hard as I could as I was finishing it and it was solid as a rock.

My question is..
How much of a chance is there that that small section of stringer floating like that will damage my hull?

I'm still going to glass that new section in..blending it into the glass that was already there and pretty solid..that alone should make it solid enough shouldn't it?

Re: Silly stringer question

As long as you glass it in, glass it to the hull, and have it married to the rest of the stringer on both ends you'll be alright. Make sure you completely glass it in, leave no wood exposed. Good luck...
