I want to locate a tilt switch at the bow of my boat beside the t/m plug-in. Can I use any switch that has an up and down toggle and a position in the middle and wire it to the wires coming from the switch on the throttle handle?
1987 VIP F/S, 1987 Force 125 hp
Thanks,

JR,

Yes you can, done it many times myself.

You will need a double pole double throw switch. One that has the designation "ON" Momentary, "OFF", "On" Momentary.

Your tilt/trim system probably has three wires. One is always hot, the other two, when connected, make the motor go up or down.

Thanks. I found the wires behind the throttle control and checked them with a multimeter while I toggled the switch. I should be able to hook up right there, right?
