simple yet annoying starter question

I am trying to remove the starter from my 1988 Bayliner Carpi with a 2,3L engine. I have removed to two bolts that I can see but the starter does not want to come off. I am not sure if there is another bolt holding it that I cannot see or if I just need to hit a few times to knock it off. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

i don't know about your starter. but mine had 2 long bolts that bolted the starter to the engine + a third nut that fit a stud that helps support the free end of the starter that isn't bolted to the block.

If I remember correctly, there are 3 mounting bolts for that starter. 2 on the starter side, and one coming in from the flywheel cover side.

So then the third bolt needs to be removed to get the starter off? I think I found that bolt but it was so hard to reach. Is there an easy way to get to it?

Don't give up. They're right, that 3rd bolt needs to come out.
