Simplify 4.3 circulating pump hose removal?

Draining my 4.3 block for winter is simple, except that removing the circulating pump hose is normally a fight. I noticed a small water drip from the lower hose clamp yesterday during recommission. I let it cool down overnight and I plan to pull the hose, and shine up the pump hose fitting today.

Any recommendations for a sealant that will also ease hose removal this fall? Thanks, Dave

Ayuh,..... Agreed,.... No sealant, 'n get yerself a Hose Pick for winterizin',......

A hose pick is one of those tools, that once ya get one, ya wonder how the 'ell ya ever got by without one,.....

no sealant required..... if the hose is older than 15 years, replace it

then every time you want to pull the hose, use a hose pick.

Thanks Scott, and Bondo . Scott, you're the part source guy. Is there a SBC hose available? Advance Auto is 10 min away, and my hose is '96 original. I can replace it today if I know an auto/truck application. I'll get the pick before fall.

Ayuh,.... Probably not, as autos put a radiator in-between,....

Merc part number 32-861590A05 is used for this application on my 2004 4.3, it is an assembly that has a fitting at the lowest point for a drain plug would likely fit and eliminate the need to pull this hose

Mercruiser and VP only share the long block with automotive. accessories, belts, hoses, etc are Mercruiser or VP only. they work with companies like continental and gates to custom make hoses for their applications.
