Hello everyone I just bought a used 18 ft. Alaskan. I was wondering if anyone new what length shaft I would need on a trolling motor for this boat. Any input on trolling motors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Thanks Bob but I am talking about a bow mounted elecric trolling motor. Sorry I should have been more specific. I have seen all the charts and things that tell you how to measure for a T. motor but I would like to find someone who has one instaled on this or a similar boat. Thanks for your time!

Is your boat water ready? If so, take it to the lake, put it in flat water, and measure down to the water. The general rule of thumb, is add 20 inches to that length. If you fish in REAL ROUGH water quite a bit, you may want to add more, but 20 inches below the water line should be enough.
