I am looking to buy a 15 foot double ender canoe. I have a 17 pound trust trolling motor. Will this motor do the job, or do I need a motor with more thrust?<br />Stalker

Re: Size of trolling motor for canoe

I always tried to plan a trip so I paddeled into the current or wind when I started and felt strong. Would then have it easy coming back. On that basis anything would work. Other way around could even require a small OB. UGH.------------------------ A word of caution with motors and canoes. Make DAMN sure that the prop does not come close to the hull, no matter how sharp you turn the motor in foward or reverse.
