Sizuki 40/28 runing out of gas.I did what was taked abut pluss more

It runs for a min.when going fast.It runs the gas out of the bowl then dies and sounds like starving for gas.I changes primerball,checked the fuel filter,all fuel hoses,Got a new fuelpump.When changed the tank it ran ok for 3 trips at end of year.Now it doing same thing right away this season.It runs the gas out of the bowl.Prime it and gas fills back up,does the same it drains the fuelfilter then starves again.I had a mechanic drill the jets out,polished stuff,chenged the carb setting to burn the extra gas and turned the timing to burn the gas up.At least thats what he said.It was loading up at bottomend.He changed the timing a degree then ran better but not perfect.it ran for about 10 times out.Then the gas problem started.You couldnt prime it and wouldnt even start.I did everything i said and found out the tank was bad i thought.It primed fine then and ran ok.I also think the gas hose end was bad.Any help would be greatfull.Thanks Jack

Did you check the vent for the tank? If it's plugged and the tank can't breath then it would cause your problem.

I have 2 tanks that do the same thing.I will doublecheck them though.When i got my new gas pump it didnt have a gasket between the motor and the pump.But it still looked like brandnew.But it did run after i thought it was my brand new tank i got.I put the old one back on and ran fine 4 times out.I got a bigger tank that was returned.Now i am selling it.But need to get running right.Thanks Jack

The first thing you need to do, Jack, it return your jets and tuning to stock. Trying to outsmart the engineers who designed your engine is a quick way to screw it up thoroughly.<br /><br />If the carb bowls are going dry your fuel pump is unable to pump the fuel. Maybe it is bad, maybe there is a restriction somewhere in the fuel supply system, maybe something is preventing crancase pulsing from operating the fuel pump.<br /><br />Get a different wrench. The one you have been using hasn't a clue and is trying to snow you.<br /><br />Good luck.

I just looked at my service manual and the timming was a little greak to me.can you adjust with lostening the 2 screws and adjusting the markings.It sayed the actual timming is 25deg.And the carb had some settinmgs also.Anyhelp setting the timming and putting the carb back to original settings.Any tips for me.That good service manual is very helpful.Its worth the $60 i payed.Where could i get the original jets.Only 4 dealers in pa and had a bad experience withe the closest one.I was had by him.This is the first i found this site,And its a very helpful place also.I dont know if the carb bowls going dry.I just know before the carb is the fuel filter i think right before the fuel pump and its running dry so i would think the carbs dry also

Aha! The filter is going dry.<br /><br />The only way I know that that can happen is for air to get into the fuel supply line. Check all connections, with special attention to the "O" rings on the connectors.<br /><br />Good luck.

Also re-check & double check your fuel lines,bulb& connections.

I bypassed the 2 gas ends.The one on the motor and the 1 that connects to the boat.It seems to be working fine now.The oring on the boat end looked ok.But i replaced everything on the fuel system almost.The ends will be everything now.Thanks for the help.
