Skeeter SF-160:

I picked up a 1983 Skeeter Starfire 160 last year that's in pretty rough shape. I checked the transom by trimming the motor and lifting up and down; seemed tight. However, I'm looking to get busy re-wiring and re-carpeting, re-wooding, re-painting. I've found that these boats were apparently made very few and far between as I've not found a picture of one out there anywhere. I'd like to hear from some people who have gone through this process before and can help me out as far as avoiding common mistakes. Also, if anyone has one of these boats and a picture of it that would sure help as I'll be installing new seats and would like to make sure I get them in the right place.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Skeeter SF-160:

Does anyone know where I can get information on how this boat was originally laid out? It's missing the passenger and driver seat and I'd like to replace them with something as close to the original design as possible.

Also, if anyone knows where I could get a wiring diagram, that would rock too!!! I noticed when I last had the engine running, before it died on me, it wouldn't shut off with the key. I'm guess whatever ground the key was supposed to provide it wasn't providing. Most of the gauges look good when the key is on, but when I replace the power head and wiring harness I'd prefer to get it right the first time.

There's an 85 for sale on ebay with lots of pics. Try BassBoatCentral there's a guy there that has a fully restored 83 like your's. Do a search for skeeter and you'll find lots. All of the older models from 81 to 85 that I could find have the side by side seating like the one on ebay.

NoKlu,

I took a look at BassBoatCentral but didn't find the boat you refer to. There are lots of SF-150s and SF-175s out there, but the SF-160 was only built in '83 and '87 from what I can tell. Thus, there seems to be very few around and even fewer with pictures.
