Looking at the new skeeter tiller, 1790 would like any information possible from owners or people who have fished out of one.

Questions?

1. Cheaper then rangers and others is it just the name?
2. Only rated for 75hp, is this enough, would like to be able to go between 35 - 40 mph the sales people say it will.

3. dry ride, big water? fish Mille lacs a lot and wonder if this is a good choice.

4. One thing I did not like was the electronics garaga, seemed to far back for me, am I wrong??

5. Hate buying a new boat, wish a guy could test drive one on a windy day.

Thanks, hope to get some feed bacK

Re: Skeeter Tiller Information Wanted

I had a 1775T...good boat...fished mille lacs a lot....if you buy a tiller, be sure you have good rain gear. You will get wet unless you plan to just fish flat water or drive very conservatively....you can drive to minimize the amount of water you take on, but if it is windy and wavey....plan on getting wet.

I had a Y80 4-stroke and would top out at 36mph on the gps.

I enjoyed the boat....might have taken me longer than my buddies to get to the mud flats, but the boat control with a tiller is tough to beat.

With most tillers, the electronics are typically in a spot that you need to look down and take your eye off the waves in front of you...adds to the amount of water you will take on.

Check out and ask your questions at fishingminnesota.com, idofishing.com, or walleyecentral.com....you will probably find a few guys that would be happy to take you out in their 1790 and answer any questions you might have.
