Got a question for ya'll. I have a 03' 200SX saltwater and we had premature trailer launch this weekend. The trailer wheels were in the water just a bit with the motor at about a 45 degree angle. Long story short, we launched early with the boat hitting the water (no contact with the ramp) but the skeg caught the ramp lip and pretty much t-boned it. With 3500 #'s of boat sliding off it took a pretty good lick and gouged-shattered app 3/4 of an inch in a couple of spots. We pulled it, slicked it off with a jigsaw and file and repainted. The engine ran great in subsequent testing. Two questions. The skeg is bent to your right (facing back of motor) maybe a half inch out of line at its tip, prop is right hand rotation. Any problems I should be aware of. Question 2, any secondary damage to the motor itself I might look for. Thanks All RT

Re: Skeg Damage

as long as the prop and propshaft did not take a lick the rest is mostly cosmetic, would be nice to get it welded back up but for now if its only some skeg damage run it. a good welding shop can fill it in and grind it back down without removing the lower unit.
