In my haste to get the boat in the water I forgot to check if the motor had been trimmed up and the skeg guard cut clean off going over a speed bump the 50 yards between where I store it and where I put it in. Terrible sound and I knew exactly what had happened when I heard it.

What are my options? I've heard that you can buy an aftermarket product called a skegguard to bolt over the remaining skeg that's supposed to be even better than the original guard. But my problem is that I don't think I have enough spare to bolt through. I'm afraid my only option is to weld the sucker back on. Please tell me that this will be an OK solution and that I do not have to replace my entire lower unit.

Could a prop place fix this or I guess I could go to any old welder?

Thanks......
