skeg housing

Can a 1955 25hp skeg housing replace an existing 1962 Lark 40hp skeg both are Evinrudes and appear to be physically the same size.

no 55 had single water tube, 62 has dual.

Not only that, the skeg by itself is not transferrable from one motor to another. Reason being, the skeg and upper part are bolted together, then the inside is bored and finished. The result is that no two parts are exactly alike.

Ok,ok, having said all that, I'll admit that it has been done. The hole probably didn't come out perfectly round, but people have gotten away with it.
