ski locker cover and swim deck refinish question

I believe both these items to be teak, but they are in rough shape. Ive read tutorials on sanding and oiling etc. but not a big fan of MORE continual maintenance. Is it a sin to... clean, oil, let dry then use a urethane clear for permanent protection?

You might find that after cleaning & oiling, that some urethane's won't stick well to teak, which is high in oils/resins already. That's 1 reason why it's so resistant to rot.

Spar varnish has been widely used. CC254's got some nice teak work on several different elements on his SeaHawk thread as well.

owning a boat is maintenance. I oiled the teak on my Avanti every other time I washed the boat.

yeah , i guess once its back into reasonable shape its not that bad, just need to get it back to "reasonable" first
