Re: ski pylon

i have a 2005 glaston sx 170 (outboard version of yours) and had the dealer add a tournament ski pylon to it when it was purchased. There are no support brackets, it is a single pole and it looks very good. its great except the only downside to it is the price. it cost 600 dollars installed for a "tournament" pylon versus your ordinary everyday pylon. heres a pic...

Re: ski pylon

I have a '95 17 ft glastron with fittings for the pylon (i.e. hole with reinforcement in the deck and a fitting on the floor to hold the rod) but no pylon. There is a new one for sale for $196 + tax which seems a little expensive for an aftermarket part. For mine to stick out as much as yours does it would have to be about 4 ft in length. Perhaps a 4' x 1 1/4" rod will work. I'm not sure how to approximate the hourglass shaped piece at the top that the rope attaches too.
