Skimmer install for fish finder

This is the 1st time to install the skimmer for my
fish finder and I would like to know the best place
to mount the skimmer on the transom. I went by
the photo image posting simplified by Bob but
no pics.

Usually 12" to 18" from the centerline behind a flat surface pointed straight down with the pod roughly halfway below the hull.

Do not install it in-line with any rivets or other objects on the bottom of the hull that would create turbulent water for the transducer.

If you can see the water exiting the transom, have someone drive the boat at look over the rear at how the water exits the transom. You can see where the water exits with the least turbulence.
