Fished the Delaware River today in my buddy’s jet boat. We’re running in 8 inch depth at times. High pressure, bluebird skies made for a tough bite. Trigger enjoyed himself.

Some co-workers run in 1-2" with their custom flats boats. They are tunnel cats with a jack plate. Once on plane, you raise the motor all the way up and just skim the surface

Amazing what kind of water you can run with some of these specialty boats. Rockproof boats a local co. makes tunnel hull boats that use 300HP Rotax engines. They run the nastiest, rocky parts of the susky. Check it out.

Part of me wants to go for a ride in a new Zealand jet boat. The hull is lined with 1/2" of delrin to bounce off the rocks

I have looked at the Rockproof boats ... RiverRaptors are built less than 30 miles from me. Both boats are same principle, same Rotax motors, same styles. Slightly different options and standard equipment ... when you add the necessary extras to make them apples to apples they are about the same price. I think I am getting shot down in the Fire Department ... my specced out rescue version is only about $100K.

Just a word of caution, never let your dog ride in the bow when under power. They can easily get thrown out resulting in death or serious injury. It’s more dangerous in a prop boat but even a jet can cause death when the boat runs over him. Had one of my duck hunting partners lose his lab when he fell over the bow and the boat killed him. My lab stays next to me in the boat when under power.
