Slick 50

I don't want to open a can of worms here but has anyone ever used slick 50 in a marine engine? Do <br />you think it will help or stick with stright oil.<br />Anyone running Moble 1 SYN. <br />Just so you know I don't believe in Mechanic in a can!<br /><br /><br />the beef

Never used it in a boat, but in my truck all I got was oil leaks.

OK:<br />Now I know Synthetic is good. I have a OMC 800 STRINGER with a 305 200HP engine. The hour meter<br />says 1180HR. on it.When I bought the boat in the spring I went through it, Tuneup and all the lubes.I ran it all summer,No problems. #40 oil pressure, 160 on temp.Would it be ok to switch over to Moble 1 30W? I ran valv. 30W last year.<br />Or should I stay with reg oil.<br />Thank's <br />the beef

It's been fine all those hours with the oil it's been using, why change?

I have read that starting to use synthetic oil on an older engine will cause oil leaks. I don't know what the synthetic does but I understand the gaskets and seals will sometimes leak after the change over. <br />Slick 50,I have used it before in cars/trucks,don't think it would hurt anything but your wallet,it might even do some good. I wouldn't count on it though.<br /><br />I have used a product called restore on older engines and am pretty sure I noticed an improvement. It could be wishfull thinking though.

Stick with the regular straight 30 weight & change according to your boats use....To me that would be once at the beginning of the season, once in the middle & once at the end, minimum ...JK

Add the Slick 50, and be sure to check your muffler bearings!<br /><br />I didn't know M1 was available in a straight 30. Where have you found it? I've used it in cars and motorcycles for a long time, with perfect results. I'd love to put it in the boat.

It's very likely that long-term use of anything containing suspended particles will end up clogging oil passages.<br /><br />And you'd think if Dupont could find ANY sign that Teflon helps engines, they'd be shouting it from the rooftops, right? Instead they tried to do the ethical thing and prevent the scumbag liars from selling it, to their own financial detriment. I think that's pretty much all the proof we need that it's complete BS.

used it in a Baha once, had more leaks than i had seals for.stick with a quality oil .
