Alot of you may have already found this trick but I just figured it out.
Had to change my impeller, 30 minutes to get the lower off, impeller in, reinstall lower then the usual hour trying to get the #@*^<$ shift rod hooked up,heres the trick, there is a small gap between the lower and mid section that you can get to the shift rod with needle nose vise grips and turn it or raise and lower it, makes the job alot easier.
I am sure it was engineered that way but like I said I just found it and it is pretty slick.
So put that in your memory banks for next time you have to drop your lower.
