hi ppl

sorry for crossposting, as this followup seems to turn into a prop-specific thing

the baby is running for a while now with the 350, alpha 1, 23" high five prop.

actually we are running 55mph (gps) at 5100rpm

the only bad thing is, that if you hit the gas from low speeds, cavitation or something accours. like no grip. you got to bring it back to low rpm a couple of times an then hit it again. any ideas how to fix that? i don't know where the slip is coming from. there is no roost or something. rpm just goes up and speed doesn't increase. shall we try a different prop? more pitch? less pitch? 25"? i don't even know if the high five is a good choice. we just got a good price for it second hand

however, this boat is a lot of fun already

regards,
andy

Re: Slip on Glastron SSV195

i just got 2 props from a friend, seem to fit to alpha 1 drive.

the 1st has this number: 48-78122-21 what probably means 21" pitch?

the other just reads 99835 and looks really big.

are they worth a try? how could i identify?

regards,
andy

if your running a 23p high five a 21p 3 blade is really going to raise wot rpms by like 500. try though just to see if this slip is only in that 5 hopefully it is. it may need a hub

Re: Slip on Glastron SSV195

i think i finally found the issue.. the prop really seem to slip on the brass piece under high torque ... like when accelerating. tested same prop on a 5l and slip is nearly not noticable. i placed a mark on the prop and it's brass sleeve.

this prop doesn't seem to have a predetermined breaking point like some others have, does it? so the brass sleeve is the breaking point... how may i fix the sleeve to the rest of the prop?

thanks again for help,
andy

if your prop is slipping i believe you might have to get new hub... if im not mistaken the sleev is part of the hub and i dont think theres a way to fix it...

the prop that you've tested does it have the same pitch as the old one? im not saying it cant happend but its very possible since the old prop is slipping at acceleration might also be slightly slipping at WOT.... good luck keep is updated
