ok i have a pair of 115 mercs 1979 inline 6.is it possibale for my prop to be slipping on the rubber hub or somewhere else inside the lower unit.like a clutch on a car slips it seems as my prop is doing the same it wind up real tight i let of the throttle and its ok to ease back into it.the gears seem to be fine and in working order no vibrations...i'm trimmed all the way down.my props are probably approx 2 foot in the water only the one slips tho it seems..so any pointers in the right direction would be greatly apprciated...also i have a seloc manual for my motor...is there one out that just covers my motor and would have part numbers in it?

Re: slipping prop?

hey man your prop sounds like its spinning on the hub, either get a new prop or go to a marine store and they can repair the prop or recommend where to get a new hub pressed in. if your lower unit was slipping(which by the way doesnt slip like a car, its either in or not) you would know, serious over rev followed by a blow power head.
