Milosevic died in his cell, cause of dead not confirmed, thought to be “natural” causes.

Give it 10 years or so and we’ll start to get the real story about what happened in Croatia. From what I can tell, Milosevic was basically set up. Per the story on Aljazeera’s website, “experts” that followed the trail of Milosevic say the prosecution was never able to prove their case. Given it’s source, Aljazeers, I’m skeptical. On the other hand, once someone gets dragged before The World Court they are dead meat. There is no way anyone can be found “innocent”, no one ever has. But from what I have read about the events in Croatia, Milosevic didn’t do anything that rises to the level of international crimes against humanity. If anything, Milosevic was a victim of Clinton’s desire to posture himself as the world’s peacemaker.

Milosevic was Serbian ,not Croatian.
His crimes were well documented and included amongst other things, genocide.
The reason why many of the accusations were hard to prove, was the lack of survivors.
Your opinion of the world court is purely based on prejudice and not on fact.It is not very often that the world court is called into session. The reasons are usually genocide and other internationally recognized war crimes.
The fact that this court is not American does not make it good or bad.Believe it or not,but there is civilisation beyond the USA. Most of it much older than the one we live in.

Re: Slobodan Milosevic Dead

I know a guy who's family fled Bosnia during that joy-fest the Serbs dished out under Milosevic. His stories are blood curdling. To say Milosevic was innocent or "wasn't such a bad guy" demonstrates a lack of facts. We were doing Cultural Awareness training the other day and the instructor had hats on the table. One hat was a serb military hat and I thought my Bosnian friend was going to go nuts. He was not happy until that hat went away...

Apparently not. The accusations are well documented but it ends right there, The World Court prosecutor at Milosevic’s trial failed to provide concrete evidence of any genocide, and what she claimed was genocide didn’t involve Milosevic.

The last I read, the UN investigators put the total number of deaths that could possibly be attributed to genocide at just under 200. No women or children, just men and male youth of military capability. Keep in mind the Albanians were armed and organized into a rebel arm, the KLA. Doesn’t sound like it is even close to genocide to me.

Understand that Aljazeera is no friend of Milosevic, Albanians being Muslim and Aljazeera caters to Muslins. Here’s what Aljazeera had to say:

But analysts believe that when the prosecution ended its case in February 2004, after 293 trial days, 298 witnesses and 29,000 pages of evidence, that there was no 'smoking gun' evidence that would definitely convict the former Yugoslav leader.

Expert testimony at Milosevic’s trial: …his team determined that 10,356 Kosovar Albanians died during the war. That number includes all deaths by Serbs, the KLA (Albanian rebel forces), and deaths caused by Nato. Milosevic was on trial for ALL of those deaths. The thinking being had Milosevic not gone after the Albanians, Nato wouldn’t have been there. And if Nato wasn’t there, they wouldn’t have accidentally(?) bombed the Albanians.

I’ve been reading a lot about Milosevic trial on the websites of various law schools. Nowhere have I found it mentioned the prosecution was even close to being successful in proving the allegations. The only source I can find for a successful prosecution is a quote from Carla del Ponte say the prosecution was overwhelming and strong. Del Ponte is/was THE prosecutor at Milosevic’s trial, i.e. del Ponte thinks del Ponte is a good job.

With what is going on now with the inappropriate chemistry found in his blood, it’s not a far stretch to presume the possibility of an acquittal had to be dealt with. Like I said, there is no way the World Court will allow that to ever happen.

Give it 10-years and some investigative writer will dig up the facts and publish them. Only then will we be able to know how much of what Milosevic was into and if he was the monster he is alleged to have been.
