18 ft. Parker, 5500 high RPM, 2.3 knots at idle 6 / 700 rpm, 130 hp Yamaha 2 stroke.

Tooo fast at idle!
I'd like to manuver & troll more slowly.
Would a pitch change of 2 to 3 inches make much difference in slow speed, or just the high engine RPMs?

Hole shots(?) seem sluggish right now too.
The difference of running light and solo, vs. another with some additional gear make quite a difference too.

Should the prop change be considered for this reason anyways?

Re: slow down?

By the book your motor should idle at 650 in forward. My 150 will idle at 500. Now, as for holeshot if the top rpm is at 5500 the holeshot should be decent but if the top rpm, with the same prop, was 5800 it would be better.

Going to a prop with less pitch will affect the idle speed but probably not a great deal. It should improve the holeshot but will probably be less efficient overall.
