slow speed needle damage??

Hello all,

Still working on my 1955 Fleetwin. I'm rebuilding the carb now, and wanted confirmation that my slow speed needle valve is damaged and needs replaced... I have included a picture of it. I figured the needle would be one long taper, but instead there are two stepped tapers, and I wanted to make sure that this was indeed "damage" and not how it was supposed to be.

Man, this motor was rode hard and put away wet. Pun intended.

Thanks again all,
Jonathan

It show's some damage from being screwed in to far, not enough to hurt anything.

So, don't replace right now? That would be good, as the new price from ishopmarine.com is 33 dollars. Ridiculous.

It will work like it is but will be difficult to adjust. You can re-point it in a drill press with a file. Or better yet, a lathe if you have access to one.
