Johnson 50 hp 2 stroke outboard.
Have flushed motor in a half 44 gal drum. Is it normal to get oily milky sludge floating on top of the flush water?

Oily film yes from unburnt oil in the exhaust but not a milky sludge.

I'd suspect I'd got a lot of water in the LU and it was leaking out!

I get quite a lot of oil in my tank from running my Seagull. It runs on 25:1, oozes oil from all orifices and you deliberately flood the carb when starting it. But never a milky sludge.

Re: sludgy flush water

I think its a year 2000. Model BJ50VLSI.
Serial # G0493500
We had just checked oil level on lower leg; maybe oil from that caused the milky sludge. Oil in the gear case looked clean and bright green; no cloudiness at all.
Can someone confirm the year, and any other info from the model and serial numbers.
Thanks

i tried but must be Australia built. could not match, but SI could indicate 2001. did you replace the seals on the drain and vent plugs on the lower unit. # one place for leaks.

What was the temp of the water in the tank? Minnesota here. In the cold water it is common for the oil film to be white, the colder the water the whiter it is
