sluggish 15hp gamefisher

I have a 15 hp gamefisher approx. 1998 model. It used to push my 14" jon boat really good now it seems to just plow thru the water. If I open the throttle more than about 75% it actually looses power. Does anyone have an idea on what the problem might be?

Even Sherlock Holmes needed clues! There's no way anyone can do anything other than guess without some facts. Start by checking to see if it's only running on one cylinder.

I have not checked to see if it is running on one cylinder. I assumed because it runs and idles smoothly it was firing on both.

A 2 stroke will seem quite smooth on one cylinder.You might observe the carb and stator as you advance the throttle.
See if a little touch of choke helps.
