I had a small problem yesterday on my 2000 Yamaha 130. I'm not sure if the plugs were fouled, but all of a sudden I wasn't getting full power out of the engine. At first I thought I was cavitating, because the response from the engine wasn't as forceful as it usually is. I had her at WOT, but she behaved as if she were at about 2/3's. Usually, if I put the engine into forward gear at a somewhat quick rate, I practically get whiplash, but yesterday the engine accelerated at a very slow pace. All the while, the engine just didnt sound as "smooth" as it usually does. The two things that come to mind right away: I just fueled up for the first time this season prior going out, maybe I got "bad gas". Prior to the new gas, the engine was running fine on the gas that had been in the tank over the winter. The other thing is that I still have last years plugs in place which I had wanted to use for the first few hours to burn up all the old gas/fogging oil from storage. Could that be the culprit? The engine has approx 265 hours on it and this is the first problem I have experienced in it performance. It is a sublte thing that my passengers didnt even notice, but as the operater/owner I sure as heck did! Does this sound like it could be a "bad gas" situation? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Pat.
