Small Boat, Big Trailer?

I have a trailer that used to carry a 17' V8 powered runabout and was wondering if I could use it for a 14' skiff with a small kicker on it? The skiff is probably about 200# and I don't want to buy a new trailer if I don't have to. I know I would have to move the winch post, the bunks, and probably the axle, but is there anything else I need to do to make this work? There aren't any brakes on the trailer, if that helps.

The old trailer will probably have a fairly stiff suspension if it was designed for a couple of thousand pounds. Check and see how springy it is when empty by jumping on it. If it is too stiff it will beat the daylights out of your skiff. Good luck.

if your not going too far try lashing tyres(tires?) oner the bunks - provides a soft cushion but unfortunately looks terrible!

I just got rid of a boat that used to be carried in a huge trailer (16' skeeter,20' trailer). It's no big deal, just as long as the boards are holding it good.

The Only other thing I can think of is to Lower the Tire Pressures....... Soften the Ride..... ;)
