Small boating in florida keys

I am planning a trip to the keys and would like to do be on the water with my 15 foot runabout. What are some areas calm enough for my boat and nearby boat launches?<br />

I like Key Largo. One reason- it's the first key in the chain. If you go out of John Pennekamp State Park( very nice place), there are are plenty of canals and mangrove islands protected from open water.<br /> It's also possible to go out to the reefs in a small boat if you watch the weather.Seas are frequently 1-2' inside the reefs.
